This dough is very versatile. It can be grilled to make a perfect smoky flatbread base, baked to create an awesome pizza crust or you can add sugar to it and create a yummy pastry. We love recipes that are simple, quick and flexible.

Ingredients

  • 3 -3 1⁄2 cups flour

  • 2 1⁄2 ounces fast rising yeast

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup water, very warm

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil + extra tablespoon for rising

Flatbread

Directions
In a stainless steel, glass or ceramic bowl, combine yeast and sugar. Add 1 cup of very warm water and let sit 2 minutes, or until mixture becomes frothy.

In large bowl, combine flour, yeast mixture, olive oil  and salt. Stir together all ingredients until a dough is formed. Knead about 5 minutes or until mixture is well combined and forms a ball.

Pour extra tablespoon of oil into a stainless, glass or ceramic bowl and grease the sides. Place your dough ball in the bowl and let dough sit for 10 minutes in a warm place.

Roll out dough to fit your desired needs.

Cooking Instructions

Grilled Flatbread
Turn on grill to a medium high heat and let entire grill warm up for about 10 minutes. You can do this while you are preparing your dough.

Divide your dough into small balls the size of your fist.
Roll out the balls into small flat breads about 1/2in thick
Place the flatbread directly on the grill, it will bubble a bit (this is totally normal)! Grill on each side for about 2-3 minutes or until dark grill marks are achieved and dough is cooked through the middle.
